The mental health and well-being of a child is very important. Their lives need to be full of positive, happy experiences so that they are able to grow into healthy and well-adjusted adults.
It's important to recognize and treat mental illnesses in children early on.
Programs for children at “Tampa Family Psychiatry” are created for the unique developmental stages and behavioral health risks that they face in growing up.
Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Tampa
I am committed to helping children, adolescents and families achieve solutions in a comforting and supportive environment. With 37 years of experience helping achieve successful outcomes for youth and families, I have a wealth of skills and understanding with which to assist our patients. We are proud of the acknowledgment we have received from families and other medical and mental health professionals for the effective, caring service we provide.
Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
I have a special interest in treating children with ADHD, ADD, anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, autism spectrum disorders, issues related to bullying and self-esteem, as well as other behavioral issues, related to mood dysregulation as well as bipolar disorders and trauma. The evaluation entails obtaining a detailed history from the parents, including a developmental history, before setting up an interview with the child/or adolescent so that I know what the parents’ concerns are and we are sure we are able to work together to help your child. At the end of the visit with the youth, I allow for an opportunity for feedback to make my final recommendations. This includes recommendations for treatment and whether medication would be appropriate for your child.
Child Psychiatry can help with these classifications:
Autistic spectrum disorders
Mood deregulation disorders
Having years of experience in treating children’s mental health conditions. I treat the following types of children's mental disorders:
* Overactive ('hyperactive')
* Generalized anxiety disorder
* Post-traumatic stress disorder
* Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Numerous factors may impact the mental health of your child - positive and negative. Children who grow up in a loving environment, surrounded by compassion, trust and understanding are more likely to grow into a productive adult.
My professionalism in supporting your child will keep information about them and your family confidential. Young people can seek help on their own; either by ringing a helpline or by approaching a professional directly, but parents consent is usually needed for them to get medical care if they are under 16.
Treatment is provided for a variety of adjustment issues as well as more serious mental health challenges and is available for children through senior adults.
